New member delegates from each of the thirteen chapters represented at Virginia Tech comprise the Junior Panhellenic Council. Having just joined sorority life, the delegates bring about enthusiasm and spirit to Greek life.
The Junior Panhellenic Council has existed as Virginia Tech since Spring 2003 and with each new set of officers, Junior Panhellenic continues to evolve into a stronger representation of the Greek community. In 2005, the Junior Panhellenic Council with the help of their respective New Member classes raised over $400 for their select philanthropy, Children's International, to send two children to school for a full year while paying for their necessities and basic medical expenses. Junior Panhellenic also has hosted a Fun Fair for elementary school children in Blacksburg and plans and coordinates a Pledge Mom Banquet every year to honor the New Member officers in each sorority. Additionally, a Holiday Party was held for the children of the Boys and Girls Club, the Panhellenic Council's philanthropic commitment, complete with gifts, games, and food. In 2008, the Junior Panhellenic Council began supporting the Adopt-a-Soldier-Program by collecting supplies for America soldiers stationed overseas.
In April of 2008, Junior Panhellenic planned and implemented a dessert event to unite New Members from all sororities in thanking their New Member Moms, supporting the Panhellenic's commitment to the Community of One. Desserts, a memorable slideshow, gifts, and speeches given by New Members from every chapter about their wonderful "Moms" made the event a tremendous success for Junior Panhellenic. In December of 2008, "J-Pan" will host a Greek-wide "New Member Social" for all women who joined sororities in Spring of 2008 members of sororities.
Applications for Junior Panhellenic will be available in late January following Recruitment. New Member officers will let you know when they are available! Please apply! We love seeing this Council continue to grow and witnessing the great accomplishments of the newest additions to Greek leadership!
